FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index
In 2014, Bursa Malaysia and FTSE Russell launched the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index which consists of Malaysian stocks selected from the top 200 companies in the FTSE Bursa Malaysia EMAS Index based on their ESG performance.
The FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index aims to:
- support investors in making ESG investments in Malaysian listed companies;
- increase the profile and exposure of companies with leading ESG practices;
- encourage best practice disclosure; and
- support the transition to a low carbon and sustainable economy.
The index has been designed to identify Malaysian companies with recognized corporate responsibility practices, expanding the range of the benchmarks of the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Index Series for the Malaysian Markets.
In addition, FTSE Russell launched in April 2016 the FTSE4Good ASEAN 5 Index which constituents are companies with prime ESG practices listed on Bursa Malaysia, Indonesia Stock Exchange, the Philippine Stock Exchange, Singapore Stock Exchange and the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
The index methodology for both the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index and FTSE4Good ASEAN 5 Index is publicly available on FTSE Russell’s website.
